Uwielbiam ten zwrot i lubią go też native speakerzy, bo używają go nagminnie. Również w sposób sarkastyczny, gdy widzą, że ktoś się z czymś masakrycznie grzebie. Powiedzą wtedy z przekąsem:

–No worries, take your time with that!

A kiedy chcą kogoś obgadać za plecami powiedzą:

Can you believe the new manager? He’s taking his time about deciding. We can’t wait forever.

Alternatywny, nieforamlny zwrot to – (there’s) no rush! czyli nie śpiesz się, bez pośpiechu ( = no need to hurry, no need to rush, there’s no rush).

-No rush, we still have plenty of time to finish the project.

–What’s the rush/what’s the hurry? po co ten pośpiech?

on time– on schedule, at the right time- na czas

It’s important to arrive on time for a job interview.

in time– w czas, przed czasem

just in time for-  w czas,aby załapać się na coś.

Hi, Henry! Have a seat – you got here just in time for the department meeting.

Wielu nie rozumie różnicy między on time i in time. Otóż różnica jest następująca:

Ja tą różnicę dobrze zrozumiałam po obejrzeniu filmu „In time”/”Wyścig z czasem. Ogldaliście? Jeśli nie to polecam, bo jest świetny.

Film przedstawia świat w niedalekiej przyszłości: aby uniknąć przeludnienia, wprowadzono reglamentację czasu do przeżycia, który stał się najcenniejszym dobrem, jedyną powszechnie akceptowaną walutą wymienialną.

have a hard/rough time– mieć z czymś trudność.

to give someone a hard time– cisnąć komuś, uwziąć się na kogoś.

it’s about time- w końcu, czas, żeby coś zrobiono

Zauważ, że po tym zwrocie wstawiamy formę przeszłą czasownika.

spend time– spędzać czas, każdy zna tą kolokację. Nie każdy jednak pamięta że po niej wstawiamy czasownik  w fomie-ing

waste time– marnować czas, tak samo jak powyżej wstawiamy po tym zwrocie czasownik +ing.

Nie mieć czasu, być w pośpiechu, śpieszyć się.

I’m taking some time off in July to go hiking in the Tatra mountains  with my family.

I’d like to take a cooking course, but I don’t have enough time.

to have quality time– czas spędzony i całkowicie poświęcony rodzinie.

I’m not available this Saturday,  I’m having some quality time with my family so won’t be answering any calls.

kill time/pass the time– zabijać czas

Let’s bring some magazines to help pass the time on the train ride.

to have time on one’s hands-mieć trochę wolnego czasu na zrobienie czegoś.

Marta has some time on her hands, so she is taking a college course.

make time for– to “create” time in a busy schedule, czyli znaleźć czas w upchanym grafiku.

I need to make time for regular exercise – maybe I can go to the gym before work.

We need to make time for training new staff.

Uwaga! to do time – znaczy siedzieć w więzieniu, odsiadywać wyrok.

save time -something that is efficient and gives you extra time

Shopping online saves me time because I don’t have to wait in line at the shops
